Membership

The principal fundraiser for our activities has for the last twenty years been a Decorator Show House, where a home--usually one significant to Howard County's history--is restored, decorated and shared with the community.

By becoming a member of Historic Ellicott City, Inc. you'll help us build on our tradition of protecting and maintaining our landmarks for future generations. You'll also receive membership privileges that will increase your own enjoyment and understanding of our Historic District.

Volunteer Opportunities

The best way to get to know your neighbors is to join them in a fun project. That's why block parties, cookie exchanges and photo scrapbook events are so popular. What can be even better is when you have fun while contributing to the well being of your community. Historic Ellicott City, Inc. doesn't just talk a good game, but rather its members work hard to make the community better-and honestly have a great time doing it. You don't have to be a member to volunteer but there has never been a better time to join the group, with lots coming up and lots planned.

Many members of Historic Ellicott City, Inc. volunteer countless hours to our various programs, including the fundraiser Decorator Show House and the Holiday Greens Sale. A variety of volunteers are needed to implement our programs. We have also begun the Mill Project, which will require expertise in many areas to make it happen.

The show house requires thousands of volunteer hours from hundreds of people. The group is always looking for new docents to host in the rooms as well as new members of the committees who work behind the scenes to make the project the success it is. Help is always needed with parking, special events planning, sponsorship solicitation and data management.

Historic Ellicott City, Inc. is always looking for new ways to contribute to the community, and new ideas are always welcome. Look for new 'you are here' interpretive signs that have been installed at either end of Main St . Although you don't have to be a member to volunteer, membership shows your support of all our organization is trying to accomplish. There has never been a better time to join!
