Our 27th annual Decorator Show House is a Colonial Revival estate conveniently located on thirteen rolling acres midway between Baltimore and Washington in the Maple Lawn area just south of Columbia.
The foundation core of this Dutch Colonial dates back to the mid-1700’s. Portions of an old foundation are located in the basement and the existing house is built on part of these foundations. Telescoping additions have been added over the years. Additions in the home have included a stairway, mantels, cornices and other woodwork. Outbuildings on the property date to the twentieth century when the farm belonged to the Walters family. The farm remained in the Walters family until 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beck purchased the property in September 1963.
Present owners have restored the home with beautiful detailed features. Many of the twenty-five rooms offer panoramic views of the three-acre lake on the property. Holly Manor, or Holly House Farm as it is also known, is listed on the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties.
Chairpersons of the event were Wanda Mathews and Linda Farndon. The Show House was held from September 24 through October 23, 2011. Over 4,500 guests toured the home.
